This educational program teaches beginners, the curious and the more experienced in gardening and innovative techniques.
With the focus on organic gardening, composting, companion planting, beneficial insects, pest identification, sustainable gardening practices, soil management and plant nutrition. The Riviera Beach Heights Community Garden, Gardeners in Training program, also empowers and encourages entrepreneurship through its educational programs. Gardeners learn about the art and science of growing plants. Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to extend sustainable gardening information to their community and fellow gardeners.
The Gardeners in Training program is divided into two parts. The Gardeners in Training are for those who only know gardening basics to those who are just learning. The Gardeners program is for those who know a little more than average about gardening or for those who have had experience as a gardener.
Gardeners in Training – These students develop basic horticultural skills which bring gardens to life with fresh vegetables and fruit. They learn through cooking, hands on activities, through fun and informative classes and through the experiences of others.
Gardeners – These gardeners learn about more advanced horticultural skills. They also learn how to enhance their gardens with more creativity. They learn innovative recycling techniques, recipe ideas, conservation, about healthy living and why it is important. They are encouraged to share their knowledge with others and to continue their journey in gardening.
