The Riviera Beach Heights Community Garden committee started in March of 2012. The community garden was started with the mission to create something positive for our community, something that would introduce healthy eating and living to our residents. The committee had the goal of creating a legacy for the families in the community; something that can help build and nurture a sense of community in our neighborhood. We are so proud to have fulfilled this mission and we will continue to do so.
The Riviera Beach Heights Community Garden and Park committee has several tasks that they engage in, in order to keep the garden running smoothly, they include:
- Continuously striving to create opportunities for community gardens throughout
Riviera Beach - Increasing awareness and access to healthy organic foods
- To educate and empower the community to do their own backyard or balcony gardening
- To preserve the physical integrity of the garden
- To resolve conflicts
- Develop and enforce rules and regulations
- Fundraising
- Maintenance and day to day decision making in the garden
