An important aspect of neighborhood community gardens are volunteers. Because many community gardens operate on low a budget, it may not be possible to hire all of the staff needed in order to run a successful community garden. The Riviera Beach Heights Community and Park also rely heavily on volunteers and community support.
There are many rewards in volunteering in your community garden including learning about gardening, socializing with others, exercise, getting much needed vitamin D, being a part of the growth and betterment of your community. One of the greatest rewards is being a part of the, In My Backyard program. When you volunteer at least 25 hours a month in your community garden, a benefit you get is a kit to help you start your own garden! Participants in this program will have learned enough to successfully grow their own veggies at their home or business. What an exciting program for everyone to be a part of!
Whatever skill you can offer whether its welcoming guests to our garden, planting, helping with chores or weeding, all services are valued. Being a part of our garden, helps strengthen and it helps build your community.
